Amazing old bottles

Those amazing objects are not mine, but I have collected few images to share and keep for myself as an "idea" scrapbook. I simply couldn't resist.
Most come for the UK site uniquebottles.co.uk
Oh, to be in England....

Life amidst Polar Vortex

Ottawa is again a frigid place - temps nearing -30C, brrrrr.

Ottawa artist - David Cation organized a fun event last night at the Atomic Roster (a pub, thanks God located near by).

Friends-models sat as a Van Gogh's Potato Eaters-inspired group.
The scene set at the pub's windows where in the summer usually bands play music.
Several artists at their easels painted the seen.

<--- Angela McGowan painting.
The other artists - TBD soon.

The pub was full, the music and the beer was good, my two trusty companions were great - Alexei and Carlos. ->
The evening was a lifesaver.

Vintage graphics

I have been noting often on my blog the nice examples of decor trends. The vintage graphics, especially those in the 18/19th century style have been going strong for a long time. But since most of my clients are men, I do not actually receive many orders that bring Shabby Chic to mind.

A Festoon rather than Garland...
However, this one, a current order - still hanging on the wall of the Studio - is the quintessential Restoration Graphic.

For a background a was able to use a photograph of textured faux wall painting.
The overall effect is very "aromatic" and almost architectural.

As for my personal finds - I enjoy few gorgeous pre-war bowls.
The light salmon pink resembles the popular in the US depression glass.
But the strict, modernist cut pattern suggests that this was simply a nice quality cast glassware of the thirties.

I cannot wait to mix it with my Grand-mother's (now inherited by my Mom) cast round large vase of the same colour.
Also a treasured pre-war artifact.

Happy Music 2014

Here is some good beat for the New Year.
I have no idea what those Georgian boys sign about, but it surely sounds like great music!

If the vigour of the Georgian singing was not enough:
(came via the wonderful Print and Pattern blog)

The illustrator Tracy Paterson is located Texas,
where both print and pattern in the US are in
visible demand.
